Dress Code and Etiquette

Dress Code

Whilst Buckingham Golf Club aims to promote a relaxed atmosphere, we do seek to maintain an acceptable Standard of Dress, both on the Course and in the Clubhouse. Members and Visitors are respectfully asked to confirm to the Club's Dress Code which maintains a high standard of smart conventional Golf and Casual clothing.

IN THE CLUBHOUSE
In order to encourage a more relaxed and friendly atmosphere in the Clubhouse, smart/casual dress is permitted. ‘Smart Casual’ can mean different things to different people so, for clarity, please see the following definitions. If in doubt please ask the Club Staff or Club Office who will be pleased to help and advise.

Please note the following may not be worn in any area of the Clubhouse:
UNACCEPTABLE
* Golf/Baseball Hats
* Golf Shoes (Clean Rubber Soled Golf Shoes can be worn in the Rolfe Bar and on the Balcony)
* Wet or dirty Clothing or Waterproofs

Also, in the Clubhouse, Members and Visitors are expected to be smartly and appropriately dressed. Please note that Footwear must always be worn in the Clubhouse and walking around in socks or barefoot is NOT permitted. Modern casual shoes are permitted including Smart Trainers, Sandals, Loafers and Deck Shoes (NO Flip-Flops or Slippers). Men are also requested to wear socks (but this is not compulsory).

Smart Demin Jeans and Trainers will normally be acceptable, although exceptions may be made for certain events. For formal events Gentlemen may be asked to wear a Jacket and Tie. Notification will be given on these occasions.

* Rake Bunkers after use

PACE OF PLAY
The R&A state on their website: "Two-ball rounds should take no more than 3 hours 10 minutes, three-balls should take no more than 3 hours 30 minutes, and four-balls no more than 3 hours 50 minutes."

Being aware of Pace of Play and following the guidelines below makes the game more enjoyable for all.

For Competition and Casual Golf, some pointers to remember…
* Encourage ‘Ready Golf’– play when safe and ready to do so; not necessarily in order of furthest ball from hole
* Play a ‘provisional’ ball if you think there is danger that your first ball maybe lost or not easily found. It’s a lot quicker to play a second ball from the tee than walk all the way back
* Look for your own Ball before heading over to help others (where practicable)
* Keep an eye on the time when you start your search – remember you have a maximum of 3 minutes to search for it. After that the ball is officially lost, so you should play your provisional ball.
* Leave your Bag or Trolley near the exit to the Green
* Mark your scorecard on the next tee, or if you’re first to tee off, then play your tee shot then mark the card.

There is no shame in calling players through and it benefits everyone. The group behind will certainly appreciate it!

If you keep up with the group in front. You cannot be accused of slow play.
